Here is a beautiful 1949 Selmer SBA Alto Saxophone in excellent condition. The horn plays top to bottom and the pads seem to still have plenty of life left in them. This saxophone has no dents or dings anywhere on the horn, only a small spot of lacquer wear on the bow from where the horn rubbed inside its case (in photos).
This horn has the sweet, colorful vintage Selmer sound that all of the great SBA's encapsule. It's provides a nice centered sound and definitely offers a different palette of color than the Mark VI. A type of sound that many would prefer, especially over later MKVI altos.
This saxophone was relacquered at some point. Whoever did the lacquering did an excellent job because the engravings still prove sharp on the horn as shown in the photos.
